Cold Callers

I recently got the call from the following number:
02920822633
Spam call about phone contracts
They will ask you if you have had a phone upgrade in the last ten months or whatever like that. They did this to me and I am on pay as you go!

Now if they ask you this you can either just hang up
OR
have a go at them
OR
ask them “to which mobile does this concern?”

That will gag them.

  2. Hah. Any telemarketer will have heard these thousands of times in a week and build their entire trade around going around objections. I’d consider those extremely simple objections.

    Also, why have a go at them? If they can’t offer you a better deal you won’t take it, if they can – everyone wins. You save money, they get paid. Happy days.

    If you genuinely want to get rid of someone selling phones, use these instead. These are the objections we can’t get around;

    * I don’t have a bank account
    * I have bad credit
    * I’m not 18
    * This is a council / company phone + they pay for personal calls
    * I don’t have a debit card (most companies will prove ID from a debit card)
    * I’m leaving the country next month

    Those are basically impossible to overcome. Anyways, if you’re that cut up about cold calls you’d register on the TPS which is free.

    p.s just as a final note, the company who phoned you actually attempted to qualify you as a customer. Most companies are called “slammers” who prompt you by saying “You’re due for an upgrade is that right?”. If they did ask if you’d updated in the last ten months, they were checking if you were actually near the end of your contract which is a much more legitimate way of dealing as a call center..
